How to join PMIPCC as a Volunteer?

Based on your professional experience, connections and skills you can contribute some of your efforts and work with us as a volunteer to strengthen the chapter services and also to increase its outreach in various sectors.

You can get started as a PMIPCC Volunteer in just 3 steps:

Ø  Step 1: Select a Position

You become a volunteer by filling out an application, sharing it and being accepted for a specific position based on the number of positions available. That is, PMIPCC does not intend to just have volunteer names "at large" in some database who are not assigned to a specific activity and those who are unable to contribute.

So, your first step should be to browse the list of open positions listed above and find the one that sounds interesting to you.

Ø  Step 2: Fill Out an Application

If this is your first volunteer assignment with the chapter or if you have not shared your volunteer profile so far with us, you need to fill out a volunteer application form.

Click here to use the Volunteer application form -  http://www.pmi-pcc.org/docs/PMIPCC_vol_info.doc

Email your interest for a specific volunteer activity to volunteers@pmi-pcc.org  indicating how much time you can contribute and for what duration, your areas of expertise and skills related to that activity along with your brief professional profile as per above template. You can always volunteer for multiple activities based your interest, skills and available bandwidth.

As a volunteer applicant there will be an initial assessment and discussion with the Director - Volunteers Management or the Director(s) on Board responsible for specific position with whom you may be closely working with.

From time to time, you may notice that committee chairs or Board members may be slow to respond to your application or inquiries. Board members are volunteers as well, and their professional commitments sometimes make it difficult to respond quickly.

We appreciate your patience, but please do contact the Director – Volunteers Management at volunteers@pmi-pcc.org for assistance with your volunteering interests if you feel an application processing is getting delayed.

Ø  Step 3: Getting Started on your Volunteer Assignment

Within a few days of submitting your application, the Director – Volunteers Management will write back to let you know whether your application has been accepted and will assign you to specific activity and to the relevant Director on Board or committee chairs, based on the available open positions and your interest and expertise.

Even if you could have expressed to volunteer in multiple activities, based on the availability of the position and the work priority, the Director – Volunteers Management may discuss with you and assign a primary volunteer activity in addition to the other secondary activities.

From that point, you officially are a PMIPCC volunteer. You need to sign a volunteer agreement form for our records. You will be introduced and will be invited to upcoming volunteer committee meetings by respective Board members. PMIPCC will be organizing induction, brain storming, planning, review and recognition etc. meetings for all the chapter volunteers at regular intervals.

·         If your application does not get accepted, the Director – Volunteers Management will let you know the reasons and invite you to look at other positions.

We regret that we can't always accept all the volunteer applications. Please don't get discouraged if your first application isn't accepted: there may be ample new opportunities coming up and you will find a right position before long wait.

·         Similarly if you may want to withdraw your volunteer application before screening you may need to let the Director – Volunteers Management inform about it along with the reasons for withdrawal.

·         If your volunteer application has already been accepted / it is pending response for a long time / if you are unassigned or unutilized by the chapter then you may please immediately inform Director – Volunteers Management.

For any queries or clarifications you may always contact volunteers@pmi-pcc.org

Volunteering can be an exciting, growing, enjoyable experience. It is truly gratifying to serve a cause, practice one's ideals, work with people, solve problems, see benefits, and know one had a hand in them.  - Harriet Naylor
